I use mine inside my house as a beautiful "color therapy" psychologicaly uplifting, multi tasking, very useful center piece of my home! I get more very favorable coments about this planter than anything I have ever owned (except my sharpei doggy). The price was better than any regular, "boring" and heavy ceramic planter that I could find locally.Word of caution. The planter uses a lot of depth to house the internal chamber for the light bulb. Certainly more than a third (maybe one half) of the entire height of the planter is used up by this chamber and supporting plastic walls to keep water out. No dirt or plant can occupy this large chamber. Due to this the planter is quite shallow! Plan ahead for this! So far my elephant palm loves being the center of attention! Purchased for $46 each with free shipping, I think they are a neat addition to our pool area. The solar planters offered here are about $25 more, but I've never had much luck with solar lighting. Got them hooked up to a (weatherproof) timer and they look great at night. They come fully assembled, just take them out of the box, stick some potting soil in them and add plants. They've already survived a couple of Florida thunderstorms and heavy rains with no problem. They use an energy efficient CFL light bulb and put out just the right amount of light. Color is more of a cool aqua green than olive, creating a very soothing and modern glow when lit. Just ordered a second one and will use them to brighten dark corners on our deck. The container is a very good size, large enough for a mid-sized shrub, a palm, or even a containerized herb garden. Its size makes it perfect for a roomy area but it would make a gorgeous focal point in a small garden. |
